AI Statement
What AI does and does not do across Ultreia, Muninn, Huginn, and Raven.
None of these apps use remote language models in operation. Muninn and Huginn use on-device AI (CoreML and Foundation Models) to guess e.g. a Trip鈥檚 name, but no data are sent anywhere off device.
In the apps
Muninn, Huginn, and Raven do not send your text, locations, or keyboard input to AI providers.
- Raven is a keyboard launcher for macOS. It indexes your local applications and files, runs a calculator, and lets you search without network calls. It exists specifically because other launchers grew heavy with LLM integrations and network requests.
- Muninn is a diary. It runs locally on your iPhone, reads the sources you permit (photos, calendar, health, check-ins), and stores your entries in plain files in your own iCloud Drive. A on-device AI suggests names for trips.
- Huginn is a timeline. It records your movements and stays on your iPhone using local location APIs and learns from your corrections on-device. At this point, no on-device AI is used, but it is in the planning to fine-tune your learned routes.
- Ultreia is a web based Camino de Santiago planner and map. Its icon was created by ChatGPT, otherwise no AI was used for this app.
In development
No trees or rivers were harmed in the making of either app. I use XCode for development, which (as sigh every app does these days) integrates convenience AI (such as code completion or suggested fixes) and has Agent integration. The running code, however, is (convenience, bug hunts, and suggested changes aside) mine.
The app icons and logos were generated with ChatGPT. I am not a graphic designer, and these are free side projects. If any of the apps ever earn money, paying an actual designer is the first thing on the list.
Plain tools
Software should do what you asked it to do, quickly, and stop. It should not try to think for you, read over your shoulder, or consume hundreds of megabytes of memory doing things you did not request.
