Mood logging (coming soon).
My mood is important, a machine’s opinion of it is not.
Muninn will soon allow you to log your mood alongside your daily entries. Most diary and journal apps add some form of mood logging. Muninn will, too.
We will sync mood between Muninn and Apple Health. This ensures consistency between devices, and allows for other apps to contribute too. Inside Muninn we calculate mood medians, in case more than one mood was logged.
But: We don’t claim to know more than we do. Mood is self-reported, reflective, and subjective. Some apps try to “analyze” moods, not rarely using AI on some server somewhere. If that’s your thing, go for it. All frontier models will have a field day with the structured data you provide. But should a machine across the pond really be the judge of your feelings?
In short, mood logging in Muninn is about giving you a structured way to reflect on your feelings, without letting machines or third parties dictate what those feelings mean. In five years, though, maybe it’s nice to see that even the cloudiest days might be followed by sunnier skies, so why not log it?
Mood is stored (securely and safely) inside Apple Health. This means, that editing mood on your Mac (a native app for Mac comes with 1.3, but the iPad version works well on MacOS) needs to sync back to your iPhone before it can be written into Apple Health. Mood logging will be off by default for that reason, turn it on if you want to use and sync it.
