Hej, I’m Mikka.
My coder friends relax in the evenings by cooking. As a cook, my evening relaxation is LoFi beats, tea, and coding.
Me(-ish)
This is where things go navel-gazing, though there’s not much to tell. I am a cook, culinary consultant and scientist, and otherwise just your friendly neighborhood gentleman anachronism.
I write software (as do so many) primarily for myself. I put a premium on some semblance of privacy and a right to my own data, like things minimalist and “just works” and suck, truly suck, at design.
Apps
I write Muninn, a private by design diary app, that puts “n years ago” forward; Huginn, a timeline logger for your stays and travels, and Raven, a keyboard launcher, clipboard manager, and more. I also maintain ultreia.me, a Camino de Santiago map and planner, that focuses on great albergues, vegan and vegetarian eating along the Way, and finding the next source of clean, drinkable, water.
The ‘Horseshoe Road Inn’
Popluarized, I guess, by Car Talk on NPR, the name stuck for a small side project pop-up culinary event I used (and still sometimes do) put on, featuring Borderlands Cooking (the food of the southern US states and norhern Mexican ones). h15n (H[1o2r3s4e5s6h7o8e 9R10o11a12d 13I14n]n), complete with a miscount (14 < 15) was a domain I had in the back pocket for a while, and so I used it for the pop-up and my personal landing page. It stuck, and now it’s on every business card I handed out, so we’ll stay with it.
